Beulah Blondie Cross Merritt, 94, of Roanoke Rapids died Tuesday, February 7, 2017.

Blondie was the daughter of the late Ernest A. and Mamie Howell Cross. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Dallas Merritt; her sister, Vivian Cross Woodruff (Mason); brothers, Zalph J. Cross (Evelyn), Thurman Cross (Mary), Joseph L. Cross (Lillian), and Ernest A. Cross, Jr.

Blondie was retired from Ralph's BBQ in 1984. She looked after all her grandchildren. She was kind, gentle and gracious to all who entered her home.

She is survived by her daughter, Glenyce Merritt Haigler; a special niece, Kim Amerson (Bill); grandchildren, Jay Haigler, Brandon Haigler, Houston Haigler, Gavin Woodruff (Melissa), Corbin Woodruff; her sister, Ann Bullock (Curtis); and many loving nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Dr. Bane Angles officiating.

The Family will receive friends from 12:45-1:45 at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services on Thursday.
